About the EMS Helicopter (Dr. Heli)
University Hospital

QDHow is the system launched?

ADThe basic procedure is as follows:

  1. A patient's family, etc. calls emergency (119).
  2. Paramedics arrive on the site (If the 119 representative judges that the condition is critical, the emergency command office makes a request for a critical care helicopter at the same time).
  3. When necessary, the paramedics make request for a helicopter to the EMS Helicopter (Dr. Heli) Navigation Center in the Advanced Critical Care Center via the emergency command office.
  4. The patient is taken to a temporary heliport by ambulance, while the helicopter takes off with physicians and nurses aboard.
  5. As soon as the patient and the helicopter meet at the heliport, treatment is started by the physicians and nurses.
  6. The patient is flown to the Center or to another local hospital, according to the situation.
  7. The patient receives the necessary treatment, including surgical operations, after arriving at the Center/hospital, just like other emergency patients.
