Calculation of medical expenses during hospitalization (under the system for comprehensive assessment of inpatient medicine)

Our hospital is part of the system for "Comprehensive Assessment of Inpatient Medicine at University Hospitals." The system evaluates university hospitals which accept patients with conditions difficult to treat at general clinics or who requires advanced medical technology.

The medical expenses are calculated based on the fixed daily rate (points) which is determined by the patient's disease and conditions.

The fixed daily points are designated by the Classification of Medical Diagnosis (Classification 1727), based on the duration of hospitalization. This calculation method is applied to fees for basic inpatient expenses, medical exams, medicines, injections and diagnostic imaging. However, the conventional fee-for-service system is used for surgery and other fees.

For the disease which does not belong to any of the Classification 1727, the fee-for-service system will be used.
