College of Nursing

Concept of our curriculum building

Our curriculum focuses on establishing sold basics. Particular energy is poured into the understanding of humanity above all. In nursing, the relationship between people has great significance, and the true capacity of nurses depends on their actual experiences with patients. Therefore, we carefully organize the curriculum so that all lectures are backed by practice, and Practicum is introduced as early as the latter half of the first year.

Practicum in Nursing

There is considerable gap between "to know", "to understand" and "to be able to do." In nursing, it is important that you understand and do what you first learn as knowledge. Therefore, practicum classes are extremely significant in that they make you think, judge and act on your own.

Our practicum courses are subdivided into five stages, and are introduced in the latter half of the first year. In the first year, you understand the daily life of patients in a hospital. In the second year, you learn what they need, along with basic nursing techniques. In the first half of the third year, you take practicum classes for adult patients, followed by selective practica in the second half, in which you can choose your focus area from maternity, pediatrics, geriatrics and mental health. In the fourth year, you will have further specific practica, ranging from healthcare for local residents, in-home care, critical care (nursing in an emergency situations directly linked to human life and death), to terminal care (nursing for dying patients). In the last stage of the course, to wrap up your curriculum, as a "Practicum in thematic nursing," you are supposed to pick a clinical theme from your own study point of view, and exercise all the knowledge and techniques you have learned so far in a comprehensive way to practice nursing.
